What You'll Need Equipment / Tools Butter knife Toothbrush Materials White vinegar Cloth rag Laundry detergent Baking soda Instructions How to Remove Fresh Slime from Clothes As with most stains, it’s wise to remove stains from fabrics as soon as possible. The longer a slime stain is left untreated, the more set-in it becomes and the more difficult it is to remove. Scrape Off the Slime If slime is still stuck to the clothing, use a butter knife to remove it. Saturate the Stain with Vinegar After you scrape off the excess slime, pour distilled white vinegar on the spot until the fabric is saturated. Wait for 5 to 10 Minutes Vinegar contains acetic acid, which dissolves the slime; no scrubbing is required. Give the vinegar a little time—about 5 to 10 mintues—to work its magic. Wipe the Stain For small stains, use a cloth to blot the stain and vinegar. Scrub the spot with the toothbrush if the stain is stubborn. Launder as Usual Wash the item of clothing as usual with laundry detergent. Check the care tag for any special instructions regarding water temperature and cycle speed, and follow the directions. Check the Stain Before Drying After laundering the article of clothing, make sure the stain was removed in the wash before drying the garment. If there is still a stain, repeat the treatment.
