Purist: Vanilla Bean Shake


Calling for just ice cream, milk, and fresh vanilla, desserts don't come simpler or more classic than this vanilla milkshake recipe. Top with meringue cookies for a crunchy complement to the creamy shake

  • 1 quart vanilla ice cream

  • 1 cup half-and-half or whole milk

  • 1 vanilla bean, halved lengthwise

  • 4 purchased meringue cookies (optional)


  1. In blender combine ice cream and half-and-half. With knife tip, scrape vanilla bean seeds into blender. Blend until smooth. Divide among four glasses; top with meringue cookies, if desired. Makes 4 (1 1/4 cup) servings.
