It's official: Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock, both Academy Award winning actors, have confirmed they’re returning to the big screen together to film a sequel to their 1998 hit movie, Practical Magic, based on the 1995 novel by Alice Hoffman. Kidman and Bullock were unforgettable in the blockbuster hit, portraying witch sisters whose love interests are doomed to die. But for architecture and interior design enthusiasts, there was another memorable scene stealer: their stunning Victorian house

Unfortunately, the actual structure, built on Whidbey Island, Washington, was only an exterior shell, and it was torn down after filming. Set designers meticulously curated the interiors on sound stages to bring to life the home where Sally (Bullock) and Gillian (Kidman) live. The enchanting (and enchanted) abode features elements that you can easily adapt to any space, whether you want to go full on apothecary aesthetic or add just a few touches of magical decor.

If you're all in on the Practical Magic aesthetic, go dark. Dark wood floors, dark paneling on the walls, dark beams, dark upholstery—the voluptuous fabrics and deep colors are the key to the house’s slightly-sinister look.

In the parlor is a botanical print on the walls, the vines and leaves climbing and winding around the room. The kitchen features plenty of storage for the sisters’ many bottles of herbs and ingredients for casting spells on unsuspecting acquaintances. These days, moody colors are found everywhere in interiors, so incorporating a deep green or earthy brown in your palette is not only a nod to the movie but very much on trend.

For a lighter touch, lean into the cottagecore aspects and gather all your collectibles, glassware, and wall decor to bring the Practical Magic house to your home. The sisters have an abundant collection of glass bottles and vessels, which you can replicate with a few visits to secondhand and thrift stores.

Look for cut glass objects with stoppers and lids, brass accessories like bowls and platters, old-school clocks that tick, vintage portraits, and worn wool rugs to layer on your floors. If you want to add furnishings, search for velvet upholstered, oversized pieces, ornate wood dressers, tables, and bookshelves.

Speaking of bookshelves: Piles of books, preferably filled with recipes for love potions and other mysterious concoctions, are always a good idea.

And for the super fan who wants to fully commit to the Practical Magic look, blueprints for the structure (or similar designs) are available online, according to this TikTok creator. Why not build a replica and create your ultimate witchy dream house? If you start now, your home will be ready just in time for the sequel’s release.
